Civil Department

Our civil department is headed by Ian Robinson. Civil litigation is a method of resolving disputes or claims between individuals, companies, local authorities and government departments. Generally such matters fall between two categories. One is based on contract, being an agreement between two or more parties and the other is based on civil wrong caused by one party to another either deliberately or negligently. The range of disputes based on contract can vary from the relatively minor case of purchasing a defective item such as an electric toaster to a multi million pound claim arising as a result of penalty clauses in a building contract. Civil wrongs include cases of personal injury and damage to property and reputation. If you are involved in a dispute with another individual or company we can offer you professional advice on your chances of success and the possible value of your claim. We can negotiate on your behalf and if necessary commence or defend proceedings which, according to the subject matter and the amount of the claim, will be dealt with in either the County Court or High Court.

Professional negligence is where a member of a profession has acted for you, another person or a company, which has resulted in you suffering a quantifiable loss. This would include claims against Accountants, Architects, Doctors, Hospitals, Surveyors and even Lawyers!! We regularly instruct specialist Barristers in this area of law along with specialist forensic experts. We can advise you and take action through the courts, to prove your case and recover your loss.

Housing Matters
