Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm (35 hours per week)

Contract: Fixed-Term (13 Weeks, August to November 2026)

Overview

John Barkers Solicitors are looking to recruit a friendly, professional and organised Temporary Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join our Grimsby office on a fixed-term basis from August through to November 2026. As the first point of contact for our clients and visitors, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and professional environment whilst supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our busy office. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls.
  • Manage meeting room bookings and visitor arrangements.
  • Receive, sort and distribute incoming post and deliveries.
  • Carry out general reception and administrative duties.
  • Provide administrative support to departments across the firm.
  • Maintain reception and client areas to a high professional standard.
  • Assist with scanning, filing, document preparation and other office administration tasks.

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • A professional, friendly and approachable manner.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous reception or administrative experience is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
